Waiting on Wednesday (8): Cinder by Marissa Meyer

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week I’m featuring Marissa Meyer’s debut novel release of the first novel in the Lunar Chronicles: Cinder.

Title: Cinder (Lunar Chronicles #1)

Author: Marissa Meyer

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends (Macmillan)

Pages: 400

ISBN: 9780312641894

Release Date: January 3, 2012

Description:  Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth's fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She's a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister's illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai's, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world's future.

In this thrilling debut young adult novel, the first of a quartet, Marissa Meyer introduces readers to an unforgettable heroine and a masterfully crafted new world that's enthralling.

Why I’m excited:  I love fairy tale retellings, and this one definitely adds a new twist.  A Cinderella story where the princess is a cyborg?! I love the premise.  I am definitely excited to start these chronicles.  I’m stoked that this book counts for the Debut Author Challenge of 2012 too!

Preorder Cinder from Amazon (Hardcover or Kindle) or Barnes & Noble (Hardcover or NOOK Book) or The Book Depository (Hardcover)

What are you looking forward to this week?

I love comments! They make me super happy, I read all of them and try to respond to most of them!

This is now an award free blog, I'm super flattered to be chosen for awards, but I can't find time to complete the requirements to pass them on. Thanks!
