In My Mailbox (6)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme started by Kristi from The Story Siren where bloggers can share what books they've received and what they're planning on reviewing.

For Review:
The Earthquake Machine - Mary Pauline Lowry

Purchased: (Nook Books)
The Vampire Diaries: The Awakening - L. J. Smith
The Vampire Diaries: The Struggle - L. J. Smith
The Vampire Diaries: The Fury - L. J. Smith
The Vampire Diaries: Dark Reunion - L. J. Smith

I'm reading The Awakening right now, along with Tempest still, but I'm in love with TVD TV series so I figured I should read the books that inspired it, so far it's really good. I might review them here, but I'm not sure yet.

In My Mailbox (5)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme started by Kristi from The Story Siren where bloggers can share what books they've received and what they're planning on reviewing.

I'm going to try to actually post my In My Mailbox posts every week now.  It's been forever since my last one, and I'm not going to play catch up for 4 months or anything because I can't remember what books I've gotten in that time.  But I'm starting to get a steady flow of books into my mailbox lately (I buy lots of books now since getting Christmas money).
This week's In My Mailbox is for books I've received in the past 2 weeks (since I got back to college).

For Review:

From NetGalley:

  • Goddess Interrupted - Aimee Carter - I am currently reading and loving this book.
  • Spellcaster - Cara Lynn Shultz - This is the second book in a series.  I haven't read the first one yet, but I have it, and I'll be reading it soon.
  • Lies Beneath - Anne Greenwood Brown

Purchased:

  • Bumped - Megan McCafferty - Nook Book
  • The Poison Diaries - Maryrose Wood - Nook Book
  • The Fault in our Stars - John Green - Signed from Amazon
  • Moo Cards - I had my Klout perk for a free pack of 100 mini moo cards, so I finally ordered them and just received them, they're adorable and I can't wait to start handing them out :)

In My Mailbox (4): Vlog #1

So, this is my first vlog In My Mailbox... please don't laugh at me :).  I don't think I actually sound like this in real life, but if it's in the video, I guess it's true.  I just ordered a tripod for my phone so I can make videos with better quality (shh, don't tell my mom I spent any more money... hi mom).  The tripod is for educational purposes too though I swear.  I have to record two speeches this semester and this webcam quality video sucks.  Anyway, I'm going to go back through tomorrow and put in links to the blogs I won things from and links for the book descriptions.

In My Mailbox (3)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme started by Kristi from The Story Siren where bloggers can share what books they've received and what they're planning on reviewing.

I got a bunch of books in my mailbox this week because I bought most of these books in preparation for the National Book Festival next month in Washington, DC.  I bought them all from Amazon and it was the absolute worst package I’ve ever gotten from Amazon.  More than half of the books I bought were damaged in some way.  I would send them back for replacements, but I doubt I’d get better copies of them next time, so I’ll just deal with these ones. I also won a couple more books in contests, they haven’t arrived yet, but I’ll mention them anyway.

Books I got for the National Book Festival (From Amazon)
  • City of Bones, City of Glass, City of Ashes (Paperback Box Set) by Cassandra Clare
  • City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare
  • Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare
  • Vacations From Hell by Libba Bray, Cassandra Clare, Maureen Johnson, Sarah Mlynowski
  • Prom Nights From Hell by Stephenie Meyer, Kim Harrison, Meg Cabot, Lauren Myracle, and Michele Jaffe
  • Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen
  • Dreamland by Sarah Dessen
  • What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen
  • Shine by Lauren Myracle
  • Let It Snow by John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle
Other Books I Purchased
  • Divergent by Veronica Roth
  • Across the Universe by Beth Revis
  • The Iron King by Julie Kagawa
  • The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa
  • The Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa
  • eBooks:
    • Remembrance by Michelle Madow ($0.99 right now)
Simon & Schuster GalleyGrab:
eBooks I found on the B&N NOOK Book Store for Free!
  • Megan’s Way by Melissa Foster

In My Mailbox (2)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme started by Kristi from The Story Siren where bloggers can share what books they've received and what they're planning on reviewing.

So, I haven’t done an official IMM in a month, so I figured it’s about time to make it known what books I’ve gotten in the last month.  Today I hit up the Borders sale at the mall near my college.  Everything is 40% off, and the YA section was almost cleared out already!  I only found 3 books that I couldn’t live without, everything else I either already owned or wasn’t too interested in it.  I went trying to find Cassandra Clare’s City of Bones because I haven’t started that series yet and it sounds like a good one to start soon, but I couldn’t find any of the City books.

Books I got at the Borders Sale Today
• Wither by Lauren DeStefano
• Mercy by Rebecca Lim
• Captivate (Need #2) by Carrie Jones

My Recent Giveaway wins
• My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers #1) by Rachel Vincent (received)
- Won from Brooke at Brooke Reports
• Name of the Star (Shades of London #1) by Maureen Johnson (received)
- Won from Ashley at Bookish Brunette
• eBooks of Volition & Severance by Shawn Kirsten Maravel (received)
- Won from Donna & Jess at Book Passion for Life
• Shade & Shift by Jeri Smith-Ready
- Won from Tristan at Reads with Wreckless Abandon
• Mystery Swag Pack
- Won from Amy at A Simple Love of Reading
• Nerdfighter Swag Pack
- Won from Kristen at Strawberry Splash Reviews
• eBook of The Paris Secret (received)
- Won from Missie at The UnreadReader

I like to think Random.org loves me, I feel so lucky to have these books added to my collection.  I also kind-of can’t wait until later in my blogs life when I can host a giveaway to give back to my followers the way other bloggers do. :)

Other books I’ve purchased since my last IMM:
• Abandon by Meg Cabot (from a Borders Sale)
• Firelight w/ Bonus Material (eBook from B&N NOOK Book Store)
• Straight Stalk by Tera Lynn Childs (eBook from Amazon Kindle store, this was an oops since now I plan to get a Nook, not a Kindle)
• I also just ordered a few books online
- Divergent by Veronica Roth (hopefully I’m getting this one this week)
- Across the Universe by Beth Reves (hopefully I’m getting this one this week too)
- Pre-ordered Carrier of the Mark
- Pre-ordered The Name of the Star (the day before I won it) from the NYC bookstore near Maureen Johnson so it will be signed and I get handmade presents too :)

eBooks I found on the B&N NOOK Book Store for Free!
            • Marked (Soul Guardians #1) by Kim Richardson
            • Lovely by Allison Liddelle
            • Summer Crossing (Iron Fey #3.5) by Julie Kagawa
            • The Strange Case of Finley Jayne (Steampunk Chronicles) by Kady Cross
            • Waterfall by Lisa Bergren

Random eBooks received:
• eBook of Bloody Little Secrets by Karly Kirkpatrick
- This sort-of just showed up in my inbox one day
 • eARC of Anasazi (though, everyone could have gotten this)
- Golden Ticket Event from Crazy-for-Books
• Catalyst by Marc Johnson (The one I’m currently reading)
- I received this one for review from the author a few weeks ago :)

Intro Post & In My Mailbox (1)

So, I'm Jess, and I like to read.  I have tried blogging before, but I'm usually very bad about keeping up with it.  I hope that this blog will keep me motivated to keep reading and blogging all the time.

I guess I can officially start the blog today with a special IN MY MAILBOX.
In My Mailbox is a weekly meme started by Kristi from The Story Siren where bloggers can share what books they've received and what they're planning on reviewing.
In my mailbox today I received a signed copy of Uncommon Criminals by Ally Carter! I won this book in a giveaway by April X at Book Away, and I’m super excited to add it to my collection. I have a signed copy of Heist Society already, so it’s great that I have the sequel signed now too.
A couple days ago I bought two new books too (I was on vacation and hit a small bookstore on the boardwalk). I purchased:
I don’t know what book I’m going to start reading next, but right now I am in the middle of Fins are Forever by Tera Lynn Childs (and I love it). Hopefully, I will finish this book soon and be able to review it by the end of the weekend, however I do have a ton of homework to do for my summer classes this weekend.
I'm going to spend most of the day tomorrow making the blog look good with cute graphics, more pages and getting myself organized, so I may not post tomorrow, but that's okay because I'm going to keep up this blog as best as I can.  I also started a Tumblr blog that is going to mirror this one, which I may update first sometimes because I can update that from my phone & haven't figured out how to update Blogger from my phone (it's a smart phone, but sometimes I don't think I am because I can't figure it out).
