Follow Friday & The Blog Hop (7): Villains & Genres

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee.
This week’s question is:

Q. Have you ever wanted a villain to win at the end of a story?  If so, which one??
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a villain to win.  Then again, I can’t really identify too many stories where there is an obvious villain who deserves anything in life.  Away from books, I wanted the vampires in the Twilight movie to win so that they’d need a new Bella for the second movie (of course, if she died in the first movie I know there wouldn’t have been a second movie, then I couldn’t have seen Taylor shirtless, and that would make me sad).  Anyway, I wasn’t Kristen Stewart’s biggest fan in the first movie (okay, so I wasn’t a huge fan of the first movie all together, the effects were terrible), but as a character I had imagined Bella a whole lot differently, so by the middle of the movie I really wanted James to just eat her & get it over with.

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Crazy for Books.
This week's question is:

Q. “Many of us primarily read one genre of books, with others sprinkled in. If authors stopped writing that genre, what genre would you start reading? Or would you give up reading completely if you couldn’t read that genre anymore?”
I don’t really know my favorite genre within YA… I think I read a lot of fantasy without realizing it’s fantasy though.  I also like dystopian and paranormal novels a lot. If my favorite authors stopped writing these genres (or authors in general), but kept writing other things, I would probably follow my favorite authors to their new genre to try something new.  I certainly hope authors don’t stop writing fantasy, paranormal, or dystopia novels, but if it does happen I’ll have to find something else to read.  I could never give up reading all together, that just wouldn’t work for me.

  1. Hi! I'll have to agree with you, I don't know if I would have minded James eating Bella in the first movie, either!

  2. New follower! Ugh, I felt the same about Kristen Stewart as Bella. To this day I still can't connect to her as the character. I just think the whole saga was cast terribly. Jacob aside, of course. Taylor is perfect for the role.
I am from PA as well! haha, had to mention that.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. I totally agree with the Twilight thing (and yet, I kept watching...)

And really, who would want to STOP reading, regardless of genre?! :-)

Happy Friday! (new follower hopping through)

  9. Hi, new follower here!

I was lucky that I didn't read the Twilight series till after the first movie came out so I've always pictured all the characters like they are in the movie! Only time that's happened to me.

  11. Haha. I have similar opinions on Kristen Stewart. She's a horrible Bella!
We seem to like the same genres. I love dystopians. Have you read Angelfall by Susan Ee? If not you should I loved it! Divergent is also pretty good (nothing beats Hunger Games though).

  12. I usually like the good guys to win, I can't say I've ever really wished the bad guys could win in a story.

Also, I love YA too and find I lean towards paranormal and urban fantasy the most. Though I love reading just about any genre out there.

I love comments! They make me super happy, I read all of them and try to respond to most of them!

This is now an award free blog, I'm super flattered to be chosen for awards, but I can't find time to complete the requirements to pass them on. Thanks!
